Registration
Setting up your Commission portal access
The digital identity and portal access you need before you can apply.
You apply for registration through the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission's online application portal. Getting access takes longer than people expect, so start it early — before you are ready to apply.
What is generally involved
- A digital identity. You verify who you are online using an Australian Government digital identity service (myID, previously known as myGovID). This uses your own identity documents.
- Provider digital access. Your digital identity is linked to the government access service used by providers, and then to your business's ABN.
- Authorisation for your business. For a company, whoever manages the business's online access authorises the right people. For a sole trader, this is usually just you.
- Access to the Commission's application portal. Once the links above are in place, you can start your application.
The exact names, screens and steps change from time to time. Follow the current instructions on the Commission's website rather than a screenshot from a forum post.
Common hold-ups
- Identity verification failing because a document has expired or a name does not match exactly
- The ABN not being linked correctly, so the portal does not show your business
- Someone else in the business holding the access and not being available
- Leaving it until the week you plan to apply
Do this before you apply
- Set up and test your access, and log in once so you know it works
- Make sure the person who will complete the application is the one with access
- Note who else could get in if you were unwell — this is part of your business continuity thinking
If you get stuck
The Commission publishes step-by-step guidance and has a contact line for provider registration enquiries. We cannot get access on your behalf, and neither can an auditor. If you are stuck, ask us and we will point you to the right guidance.
