Your audit
How the mock audit works
Practising auditor questions, and how to read the feedback you get.
The mock audit gives you practice answering the kinds of questions an approved quality auditor asks, in the same conversational style, before you are sitting in front of one.
How it works
- Choose a mode — a quick set of questions, a Stage 1 or Stage 2 focus, or a full run through your scope.
- Questions are selected for the modules that apply to you, so a SIL provider gets SIL questions and an implementing provider gets Module 2A questions.
- You answer in your own words, as you would out loud.
- You get feedback on each answer: what you covered well, what a strong answer usually includes that you did not mention, and what to review.
How to get value from it
- Answer as you would speak. Do not paste your policy in. Auditors are testing whether you know it, not whether you can find it.
- Do it before your audit is booked, so you have time to fix what it exposes.
- Have your workers do it too if you have any. Auditors interview workers, and the gap between what the owner knows and what the worker knows is a common finding.
- Follow the links. Each question points to the document, training module or evidence item it relates to.
What the feedback is not
It is not a score from the Commission, a prediction of your audit result, or a guarantee of anything. It is a practice tool. Your real auditor will phrase things differently, follow up on your specific answers, and look at your records.
If a question does not fit your business
Say so in your answer. "We do not handle participant money, so this does not apply — here is what we do instead" is a legitimate response, and it is exactly what you would say in a real audit. Then check that the matching evidence item is marked not applicable with the same reason.
