Registration
Predicted scope versus confirmed scope
Why our roadmap is a likely pathway, and what changes when your official scope arrives.
There are two versions of "what applies to me", and it helps to keep them separate in your head.
Predicted scope
When you answer the questions in the registration checker or complete your provider profile, we work out a likely pathway: the modules that probably apply, the audit type you would probably have, and the preparation that follows from that. It is based on your answers, so it is only as accurate as the information you give us.
A predicted scope is useful because it lets you start preparing straight away instead of waiting weeks. It is not official, and we label it that way throughout the product.
Confirmed scope
After you apply, the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission issues your Initial Scope of Audit. That is the official version. It confirms your registration groups, your audit type and the practice standards you will be assessed against.
What happens when you upload your scope
When you upload the document and confirm the details, we compare it with what we predicted and show you the difference:
- Added — modules or requirements that now apply and did not before. New tasks, documents and evidence appear.
- Removed — things you no longer need. We mark them as no longer required rather than deleting your work, so you keep anything you have already done.
- Audit type changed — your preparation and your auditor quotes may change.
If the two do not match
That is not a failure of either. Predictions are based on the answers available; the Commission works from your application. If the difference is large — for example a module you did not expect — take the time to understand it before booking your audit, and ask for help if you are unsure.
Your confirmed scope always wins. Once it is uploaded, everything in your portal works from it.
